A four-hectare farm

The project

Le Parti Poétique is a collective of artists working on issues related to nature, culture and food. Among other things, it is known for setting up bee hives in the urban surroundings of Seine-Saint-Denis. In 2016, the collective took over the last 19th century farm still operating in the suburbs of Paris, in Saint-Denis. It plans to transform the four-hectare space, surrounded by apartment blocks, into Paris's first permaculture garden. The scheme has a clear social objective. The group is keen to ensure that the vegetables grown reflect the cultural diversity of Seine-Saint-Denis, which is home to more than 130 nationalities, and is therefore working closely with local residents. From concerts among the lettuce beds to beekeeping workshops for kids, the farm also aims to be a cultural hub that promotes awareness of biodiversity.

Role of the ENGIE Foundation
