The project

Les Glénans sailing school seeks to open up watersports to as many people as possible by running inclusive group trips for young people who are in need of direction and have no access to sailing. It has therefore set up the “Les Jeunes d’A Bord” (First On Board) programme.

The programme’s objectives:

– Target young people schooled within the high-priority education network, often located in under-privileged neighbourhoods or in rural areas, to participate in sailing and marine environment classes during five-day trips in school term time

– Learn how to “live together”, where each young adult is given a contributing role, such as preparing meals or tidying away the navigation equipment

– Promote the values of solidarity, autonomy and sense of responsibility, openness to social and cultural diversity

The role of the ENGIE Foundation

The ENGIE Foundation is funding this programme of social inclusion for children and young people through sport, launched in 2019.
