The project

Mama-Light is a global programme that aims to provide access to affordable energy for women, children and small businesses in the informal sector.

Led by its charismatic founder, HRH Princess Abze Djigma, the programme attaches great importance to gender equality and empowerment of women.

“When you empower women, you empower all of humanity” is the Mama-Light motto.

Role of the ENGIE Foundation

The Foundation awarded a grant to support the Mama-Light programme in Burkina Faso. This partnership has seen 2,000 school children and students in the South-Centre region of Burkina Faso (1,000 girls and 1,000 boys) equipped with a MAMA-LIGHT® portable solar lamp. These children and their families will now be able to read, learn and enjoy life at home in the evenings in a safe and sustainable way.
