The Fondation pour la Recherche sur Alzheimer (Alzheimer's Research Foundation) has been organising Alzheimer's Talks at the Maison de la Chimie in Paris for the past eight years. Free of charge and open to the public, these talks are intended to communicate the latest advances in research and to raise awareness of the issues surrounding a disease that affects all generations.
By organising these meetings, the foundation aims to rally all stakeholders (public authorities, charities, carers, patients, researchers, etc.) to give new impetus to medical research. The Fondation pour la Recherche sur Alzheimer was set up by two doctors at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in 2004. It was recognised as a public-interest organisation in 2016.
Role of the ENGIE Foundation
The Foundation decided to support the Alzheimer's Talks in 2017 for a period of three years. Among other things, the support will allow the talks to be held in locations outside of Paris. It will also assist young researchers by means of a three-year pre- or post-doctoral contract.
