Bernard Diomède, a left winger in France's legendary 1998 World Cup-winning squad, set up an academy together with his wife Delphine, based on the belief that football is not an end in itself but an educational tool to prepare young people for adult life.
Today, the Academy supports 80 girls and boys each year, putting them through a demanding course combining studies with intensive football training. It also offers educational programmes to foster personal fulfilment and responsibility in young people.
Role of the ENGIE Foundation
The ENGIE Foundation has been a partner of the Academy since 2011, its support focusing in particular on the girls' section.
