The Yves National Nature Reserve (between La Rochelle and Rochefort on France’s west coast), managed by the French Bird Protection League (LPO), is to undergo major work with the construction of a dyke to protect local people from flooding.
This will mean pulling down the Reserve Centre, which served as a base for the reserve's staff and a venue for many events. The local authorities and national government have decided to restore and make available a farm, owned by the Conservatoire du littoral (coastal protection agency), which faces the ocean and overlooks the nature reserve. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the LPO plans to include a seabird rescue centre as part of the redevelopment.
Role of the ENGIE Foundation
The Foundation will support the development of this rescue centre.
