The focus of this project is the preservation and conservation of the area's natural resources through rehabilitation of mangrove areas (100,000 mangroves planted) along depleted coastlines and riverbanks (as identified by GPS and drone).
To help ensure its sustainability, the project will include the important element of awareness-raising and information campaigns for schoolchildren and villagers.
Lastly, to enable the local populations to become the main protectors of their environment, training will be provided to fishermen and their families in the techniques of sustainable aquaculture, planting and economic development. The aim is to encourage the adoption of a multitude of sustainable management practices that will allow for increased incomes and, in turn, improved living conditions.
The role of the ENGIE Foundation
