The project

Egypt, like most developing countries, has great difficulty providing reliable and affordable energy to the poorest people living in rural areas. However, access to energy is often a prerequisite for improving their quality of life. In Shandoura, Codegaz, an internal NGO at ENGIE, decided to install solar pumps to facilitate the complementary development of income-generating activities for farmers and to develop the full potential of renewable energies in the region. Thanks to the installation, living conditions for farmers and their families will improve over the long-term: - An economical, clean and sustainable source of energy using 2 solar pumps - A workshop equipped with machinery (sewing machines, pasta machines) to provide craft opportunities for women - A training programme on the use of machines and production optimisation for women

The role of the ENGIE Foundation

The ENGIE Foundation has been supporting CODEGAZ, an internal NGO at the ENGIE Group, for more than 10 years.
