GOAL : LET WOMEN’S VOICES BE HEARD AND HIGHLIGHT THE MANY INJUSTICES THEY FACE
COUNTRY : Worldwide
DATE : 2017
COMMITMENT : Gender equality, fight against injustice to women
The project
Of the world's 800 million illiterate individuals, 75% are women. Forced into marriage, deprived of education or freedom, millions of women endure rather than choose the way they live. And yet women are often the linchpins of development. They are innovators who work hard to improve the day-to-day lives of their families.
Yann Arthus-Bertrand's forthcoming film Woman is an epic narrative that pays tribute to women, their experiences, their struggles and victories. From Congo to Mozambique, Afghanistan to Syria, Arthus-Bertrand met a series of women, some well-known, some totally unknown, but all displaying heroism in their day-to-day lives. Scheduled for release in 2019, the film is a follow-up to his documentary Human.
Role of the ENGIE Foundation
Allowing women's voices to be heard is a priority, which is why the ENGIE Foundation has decided to support Woman with a special one-off grant.
