The project

Bednet offers distance learning for children with severe medical conditions who cannot attend school. An online platform allows them to participate in lessons and stay in touch with their teachers and classmates. The project goes some way to addressing the problems that sick children face in terms of isolation and falling behind with work. In 2015, Bednet won a European Citizen's Prize for its work. As of 2016, every child in Flanders aged 5 and above is entitled to synchronous education via Bednet if they require it.

Role of the ENGIE Foundation
